As a Tasmanian nature photographer, I have long been drawn to subjects that are often overlooked or undervalued — those small, fleeting wonders that exist beneath our feet and beyond our usual gaze… the fungi. Their quiet presence, intricate forms and unexpected beauty sparked a deep desire to share this hidden world in a way that invited others to truly see it.

Fungi possess an inherent artistic beauty that deserves to be celebrated, and Elysian Gallery & Gifts was created as a space where people are encouraged to slow down, look closer, and rediscover a sense of awe. It is a place where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and where curiosity, imagination and wonder are gently awakened.

Opening in October 2024 with my photography at its heart, the gallery quickly became a magnet for other Tasmanian makers and artists who share a love for the magical and whimsical world of fungi. Together, their creations — from art and craft to handmade treasures — weave a story of enchantment, creativity and connection.

Today, Elysian Gallery & Gifts is more than a gallery; it is an experience. Visitors often tell me they feel transported — stepping out of the everyday and into a space filled with wonder, warmth and inspiration.
